The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time
Needless to say, this game tops
my, and most likely
many others, list over the best games for Nintendo 64,
and not without a good reason.
You are Link, the young Kokiri boy
with no fairy. As you travel around the land of Hyrule in search of
Spiritual Stones, Medallions and ultimately the Triforce, you will
fight evil in forms of ghosts, walking skeletons, huge dragons and
witches. Banish
the evil king Ganondorf once and for all!
This game was the first three-dimensional
game in the Legend of Zelda series, and became a huge hit all over
the world. With excellent graphics, sound
and gameplay, this is a game you won't wrow tired off any time soon.
I'm not, and I've been playing it since it released.
Graphics: 5 / 5
It uses N64s graphics engine to the limit, which makes this a very
beautiful game.
Sound: 5 / 5
As always, Koji Kondo, the composer of the music in all the Zelda
games, has outdone
himself. The music couldn't be better if Mozart himself made it.
Gameplay: 5 / 5
I wish I could give the gameplay a 6 out of 5, because this game will
keep you hooked for
hours and hours and hours and.. Yeah, you get the point. With all
the side-quests
and mini-games, you won't put this down, even if your house sets on
fire.
Overall: 5 / 5
The best game ever released to the N64, keeps you playing for ages.

#2:
Paper Mario
A solid second place, this game
is both hated and loved by Nintendo fanboys.
There's a party at Princess Peach's castle in Toad Town, and Mario's
invited! When he gets there, Bowser rips the whole castle up from
the ground, and kidnaps Peach and all the people at the party. You'll
have to save all the Star Spirits in order to get up to the castle,
and beat the evil Bowser, and save the princess!
Graphics: 4 / 5
Most graphics are very nicely done, such as warp pipes, houses etc,
but sometimes
the Mario sprite and the backgrounds can be a little pixellated. Else,
it's great.
Sound: 4 / 5
The music will stick to your mind, and make you hum the Paper Mario
tunes
until you are sick of them, which may take some time, the songs are
great.
Gameplay: 5 / 5
The gameplay is very good. The fact that you can have helpers, and
other things such as the battle- system, makes it even better.
Overall: 4 / 5
Very good game, but the graphics could have been slightly better,
the N64 processor can handle that.

#3:
Perfect Dark
One of the games that I've played most
all of my life. Exciting and difficult missions will keep you busy
for some time.
You are Joanna Dark, a secret female agent who works for the british
Carrington Institute. You must save the world from evil! It's a first-
person-shooter, and can be compared to GoldenEye, even though Perfect
Dark is better.
Graphics: 4 / 5
The graphics are beautiful, some of the best I've seen on N64, next
after Ocarina of Time.
Nice special effects.
Sound: 3 / 5
The talking characters are a plus, but sometimes it gets very repedative,
and
some of the sounds are very bad quality, sounds like an old radio.
Gameplay: 4 / 5
The gameplay is good, but really almost the same as any other first
person shooter.
Overall: 4 / 5
Very nice game, the sound could've been nicer, but you can always
turn on your stereo in the background or turn off the voices.

#4:
Super Smash Brothers
After
Ocarina of Time, one of the most successful games to ever hit the
Nintendo 64. And with a good reason too. Challenging modes and an
awsome multi- player part makes this a great game.
This is an "all-stars" fighting game, with the possibility
of up to 4 players battling against each other, or 1 - 3 against the
computer. Some of the great multiplayer modes includes stock: battle
until there's only one man standing, or maybe time: battle in a set
timeframe, and the one with most points when the time runs out wins.
Also try the challenging
1-player mode, where you can choose from 5 different difficulty levels.
The game is based on 'damage' instead of Hit Points (HP), like Tekken
and Killer Instinct.
You can choose between several popular Nintendo characters, such as
Link, Mario, Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong, Pikachu and many more.
Graphics: 3 / 5
The graphics are nice when seen from a distance, but the polygons
get to pointy, and has too sharp edges if you get too close.
Sound: 4 / 5
Cool special sound effects like background applause, the crowd cheering
your name, and classic game music will keep you humming
Gameplay: 5 / 5
Great modes, great gameplay. As Tony the Tiger says; Grrrrrrrrrrreat.
Overall: 4 / 5
Very nice game, cool items, nice music, medioker graphics, nice boss,
nice characters. Overall very good game.

#5:
Super Mario 64
This is the game that most Nintendo 64 gamers own, and it was awarded
the best video game of all time award, even before it was released
in Europe.
This is the first real 3D platformer ever to be released. You are
Mario, and you are invited to the castle for some cake made by Princess
Peach. You arrive through your pipe, enter the castle, and one of
the castle's Toads tells you that Bowser has captured Princess Peach,
and hid all the castles Power Stars inside the paintings. You must
recover all the stars, beat Bowser, free Peach, and restore peace
to Mushroom Kingdom!
Graphics: 4 / 5
Even though this was one of the first games ever to be released for
the Nintendo 64, it's graphics are very beautiful, and set a standard
at the time it was released. Still works today.
Sound: 3 / 5
Cool music and sound effects, but should contain voice.
Gameplay: 5 / 5
Very good gameplay, very long lasting game. Keeps you playing forever.
Overall: 4 / 5
Great game, and people still play it today. This game was so popular,
that it was even ported, modified, and re-released for the Nintendo
DS.

#6:
Blast Corps
One of the most meaningless, yet funniest and craziest games released
for N64.
You are the truckdriver Jack, whose mission is to enter different
kind of vehicles, and clear the path for a missile carrier, by destroying
buildings and structures
Graphics: 4 / 5
Very nice graphics. Nothing to say about that.
Sound: 2 / 5
Too repedative music and sound effects.
Gameplay: 4 / 5
The idea is genious; the point of the game is to wreck, smash, and
ruin buildings. Plain funny.
Overall: 3 / 5
Very good gameplay, but the sound is a major drawback.

#7:
Banjo Kazooie
Also one of the classic platformers
of N64, you play the roles of the bear Banjo and the bird Kazooie.
Banjos sister gets kidnapped by Gruntilda the Witch, because she want
to use her to become pretty. Banjo and Kazooie embarks on a journey
where the tries to rescue her and beat Gruntilda, while they collect
golden jigsaw pieces and musical notes.
Graphics: 4 / 5
Nice graphics, but not the best I've seen.
Sound: 3 / 5
Catchy songs, but the character "voices" gets too repedative,
and may give you a headache.
Gameplay: 3 / 5
Gameplay is good, challenging missions and cool enemies.
Overall: 3 / 5
Nice game, but could have been a little harder to beat.

#8:
Donkey Kong 64
One of the largest and most challenging
platformers for Nintendo 64.
Donkey Kong 64 is a huge platform/adventure game, which uses a 256MBit
cartridge. It utilizes the N64s 8mbit expansion pack to the limit,
to create amazing graphics.
King K. Rool is back, and have captured your family members, and you
as Donkey Kong must rescue all of them, and beat K. Rool.
Graphics: 5 / 5
Some of the best graphics I've seen on N64.
Sound: 2 / 5
A bit boring songs, and repedative effects.
Gameplay: 4 / 5
Hard levels, and lots of things to collect. 5 different characters,
and cool multiplayer
mode.
Overall: 4 / 5
Good game with nice multiplayer, but the sound could've been better.

#9:
GoldenEye 007
One of the most popular 1st person
shooters of all time.
You are Agent 007, James Bond, and must rescue the world.
Graphics: 2 / 5
Bad graphics. Heads are pointy, textures are low-res.
Sound: 4 / 5
Nice music, restores the feelings from the James Bond movies. Makes
you really feel like a
secret agent.
Gameplay: 3 / 5
Really only good for multiplayer. The missions gets very boring after
a while, and annoying.
Overall: 3 / 5
Good game with killer multiplayer, but the rest should've been better.

#10: Kirby 64 - The Crystal Shards
(currently not avail.)
A side-scrolling 3D-adventure
game.
You are Kirby, and you must travel the planets to find the Crystal
Shards. If you eat an enemy, you can copy its powers, and even combine
it with another enemys power. Powers include, but not limited to,
fire, electricity, spikes, stone, ice, swords, and much more.
Graphics: 4 / 5
Very good graphics.
Sound: 3 / 5
Nice music, but nothing extravagant.
Gameplay: 3 / 5
Very cool, but there is very little text in the game, so you often
find yourself unable to do
anything, because you don't know what to do.
Overall: 3 / 5
Nice game, but could have been more explainatory.
