one word to this thread. there is no perfect rip from kalisto! kalisto's rip had no cdda. the perfect series was released by an unknown group and has - according to their nfo - nothing ripped (for shenmue 1 that is). so either this was just the normal kalisto rip, or the perfect series' rip...someone should check hardcoremasterz' and my links and verify what rip this is. this helps all of you and the least thing you lazy bums can do (and that means all uploaders here that label their uploads wrong) is getting the name of that person/group right, that sat down and busted their asses to deliver you such a quality rip.

You could enable overburn just in case.

I would try A120 v1.9.2 or v.1.9.6. I know they work. DiskJuggler has
compatibility issues. Try DJ v3.5. DC images can be picky.

Here's a custom DVD cover I made for this. Feel free to edit the first post to include it!

Also: I know you're all wondering how to fit four discs in one DVD case. Here's how I did it: I had a double DVD case, sometimes, these have clamps in the middle for a booklet. You can put two of the discs into paper sleeves and clamp them into the clamps. Not as nice, but, it saves space!

Not necessarily easily. There are two methods. One is rather complicated, and I believe requires that you are able to transfer files from your VMU to a PC.

Is not the GD dump, but is the perfect rip, which means that none was ripped. I know cuz i've downloaded it, played it, beated it and has nothing ripped! the only thing that i can't hear is the song when ryo and his girl was in the motorcycle, near the end of the game...

Ripped: Nothing.
Downsampled: Nothing in game discs; videos were downsampled in the Passport disc.
Source: GD dump.

Note for first time Shenmue players: Disc 1, 2 and 3 are game discs, and work exactly like any
other multi-disk game. Well, almost, just don't forget to accept the save prompt in transition
of discs. Disc 4 is an extra disc called Passport. You don't really have to burn this disc, but
it's cool because there are nice extra stuff.

There were tons of AFS files in the discs, and shrinking them gave me around 50mb of free space
per disc. Because of that, nothing had to be downsampled in game discs. Note that CDDA tracks are
included in all discs (although I think they're only played on Disc 3 and Passport). File order
was already optimized in game discs, so I used it. File order was not optimized in Passport, but I
used the original one as base and optimized it a bit. I had tons of problems hacking Passport.
First problem was the short CDDA tracks of opening that were playing wrong. I could solve it using
another program to hack CDDA. But the worst problem was that the game was freezing when playing a
movie, and I couldn't solve it. Then I got a release of the "Perfect Series" made by some cool
guy(s), and comparing with the PAL GD dump (their release is the PAL one) I could finally find out
how to hack the game properly. So whoever worked on the "Perfect Series" Shenmue release: thank
you. In Passport disc, space was really short, even shrinking AFS files, so movies had to be
downsampled. I made around 230mb of movies fit on around 50mb, so don't blame me if it got crappy.
I used VBR in video and downsampled sound too, so the movies have the best quality they could have.

Enjoy this masterpiece with the best quality possible.

Features of my release:
- Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump files.
- NTSC-U version.
- Includes CDDA.
- Passport disc included.
- Dummied for 700mb CDs (except Passport that filled the whole disc), it means faster loading times.
- Used GD file order in game (already optimized), and custom file order on Passport. It helps
loading times and Dreamcast reader noise.
- Selfboot.

About the game:
- It has VGA Box support.

Other comments:
- "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff. Note that every disc has a different
"warning" track spoken by a dubber of the game, so you should check it.
- Release comes with manual and covers.

Shenmue is a normal multi-disc game. So you start playing on disc 1. With your progress, the game will ask you to save and swap for disc 2, and so on.

So, I have a problem, I think.
I download the first CD of Shenmue, but i see that it is 759mb.
So will I use a CD of 90mins, or simply write it with disc juggler and a 80mins CD?

What part did they remove from the game for the rip? Did they remove the speech?

The DCRES version has nothing ripped nor downsampled AFAIK. The only thing downsampled are the videos in the passport disc (it isn't needed to finish the game)

It seem yours corrupted too(i haven't try the original post yet). Part 1 and Part 5, the cdi file is broken. I've dled it twice and still getting the same result. But i still can extract it, not sure if it will work flawlessly. :cool1:
