Wow, talk about original!
It may not be the best dance-rhytm game ever made, but this game has some properties to make it a worth-playing game for almost everyone that enjoys music and rhytm games. The graphics in black in which you see a rabbit following a line, it's actually...pretty cool! Some never-seen art that will be joyful for someone that is actually looking for something more original. The gameplay is nice, too, athough it may take some time to «get the right timing». The rabbit walks in a line, but this line isn't constant. It's got some obstacles, like «grass or spikes», elevations, loopings, or holes. To cross these obstacles you must press one of two or four possible buttons for the action you must take (roll over for grass, climb an elevation, cross over a hole, do a roll through the looping), for example, all the d-pad buttons do the same thing. But this isn't over yet! There are more complex obstacles that are a combination of two normal ones. And for those you must press two buttons corresponding to the obstacles that are making the big one (like a looping with spikes, or a hole). So I guess there are about 10 possible different obstacles with different ways to cross.
When you don't cross some obstacles properly, your rabbit may turn into a frog, and then into a worm, and then you lose if you still don't manage to cross many objects. You can be promoted, though, if you cross a certain number of objects without failing.
There aren't many options in this game, and about in-game only experience it may be quite limited, since you only have about 6/7 music courses to do divided in 3 categories, each harder than the other. There is something quite nice about this game, though, that makes this mainly-limited game last for a very long time for many (or for others, almost an eternity). YOU CAN PLAY YOUR OWN MUSIC CDS IN VIB-RIBBON!!! And although I can't manage to find anything out about how they game programs courses (or in other words if the music's sounds are properly matched with certain obstacles and how), something I can say: It makes a very fun and addictive experience, and it's worth trying every music!
So that's why I consider Vib-Ribbon one of the best and most original music-rhytm games of all times.

PS. this is my first share, thanks to all for suggestions and critics ;)

EDIT: added information about languages. :D

Awesome up....hard to post new games here these days...unless they are imports. This game turns your music CD's into games huh? Theres a monster trainer game that turns your PSX savefiles into different monsters...I think this kind of stuff is neat. Good job rep given.

Thanks Ichi_theKiller ! :cheers2:

EDIT:Remember if your playing this on an emulator you will need images of your music CD's to mount in Daemon Toolz...also you will need to load the game from the virtual cd rom as well...instead of running the ISO. Mount the Image and then select run CD-rom...so you can switch to you music CD images.

has anyone tried this on a usa psx? last time i tried it would not boot, maybe it was a bad rip

also does an emulator play this now? last i checked no emulator would boot you into the game, i was told its due to some trickery it does with ram related to the cd switching

Someone needs to hire me as an Excel civil servant.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=79Q5E8O6

Yes, it works perfectly fine in pSX (http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com). Load the image normally with "Insert CD Image." When it asks for you to put in your CD, hit "Eject CD." Then, "Insert CD Drive."

Great game this one. But don't expect all of your favorite songs to woo you. They'll end up kicking your ass. The game actually gets you to appreciate songs you listen to a lot less. And for some reason much of the .hack//Liminality OST sounds like it was made for this game.

SERVER: Rapidshare.com
IMAGE: CloneCD 4.2.0.2
SYSTEM: PAL
LANGUES: ENG-FRA-DEU-ITA-ESP
Publisher: SCEE
Developed by: SCE Studios Japan / Nana On-Sha
Genre: Music Action
Release Date: Sep 1, 2000

Description:
A cult classic music game by Nana On-Sha (creators of the Parappa series), this
deceptively simple game has players running on a course of platforming puzzles
built out of music. Little Vibri must avoid being knocked down and devolved as
he makes his way down the path of the ribbon. Shapes appear in the ribbon as
you go, and Vibri must react by the action of a button or combination of
buttons. Survive the shifting of the ribbon to make it to the end and earn your
score! Players can play the game either with the title's uncharacteristically
catchy (and tempo-schizophrenic) music by Japanese mix artists Laugh and
Peace or else they can pop in their own music CDs and play through stages
dynamically generated by the music.

It wasn't allowed back then either, I simply didn't give a fuck about the rules back then.

Ironically, I was promoted shortly after.
