One of my favorite RPG, probably my 2nd fav. for the PSOne. (First being Grandia.)

Only thing I hate is that you can't skip the summon/magic animations. Some are so long that you wanna smash your PSOne when you use them often in battle (AKA LVLing). :p
Doesn't have a magnificent soundtrack though. (Not bad, but nothing really stands out.)

I have played damn near ever rpg game out there for the psx-1..and by far this was my most fav game...the battle scenes where you get to pick yer combos..or just hit at random...are outstanding..the hardest thing out of the whloe game has got to be the fishing..altho not required is pretty fun and challenging but can be very long to get the RA-Saru Mule Egg...
going back to certain scenes of last battles can pick you up some VERY interesting Eggs and Tools...take Cleid's advice and mine..get this while ya can and have some major ass whoopin fun :D :D

I remember being at Blockbuster, looking at this game. I'd always want to get it and then I'd look on the middle picture on the back... Eww... I'm not usually a judge on graphics, but I'm just not a fan of those graphics.

Nope! They're different games. They don't even have the same developer. I don't think you have to do timed hits or anything, but you do have a choice of which parts of the enemy you hit and stuff. Hitting certain places provides different effects. It's an RPG. It's pretty much rated the same as Legend of Dragoon. You'll probably like it. You can try Wild Arms if you like also. It was made by the same company.

*getting tearful* I... I never thought... I'd ever find... this game again... Many years ago... when Toys 'R' Us sampler disks were considered a way to sample hot new games, I found a sample video of Legend of Legaia. As the movie played through my young eyes widened with fascination(that makes me sound old, don't it?) as the amazing storyline captured me, I wanted to buy that game ever so badly... but then the PS2 came out, and the Gamecube, and I soon forgot about it. Now it's like a complete wake-up call. Thanks SO SO much for this Rom!!

I enyjoyed this game. I remember staying up until 6am one time playing. Quite addictive. The only thing that really bugged me was that the main character never uttered a word. It was all the other characters that did all the talking. It's like that in Jade Cocoon as well. >< But nevermind, I had this game but sold it, but not before I created an .iso of it. :evil63ah:

I highly recommend you give this game a go; it's real simple to get into, pretty addictive and there's some fun mini-games (like fishing). BUT I NEVER CLOCKED THE GAME!! Could never beat that last boss...maybe I needed to level up more. :rofl:

I was surprised to find out, what a great game Legend of Legaia was. It looked kind of simple and short in the beginning, but it developed a great playing depth. At some points it was pretty easy, but all in all it was an interesting experience.

Hmm i was kind of shocked when i was reading this thread. Not one person compared the battle system of Legenf of Legaia to Xenogears, its the only game on the PSX that have almost the same one in the way they both are. So if you liked Xenogears battle system then you will love Legends because you can do more then one combo move(unlike on xenogears, unless you use ap) + i'm pretty sure you get more moves. because you have 4 keys to attack with instead of 3.
People who are thinking about playing this game, give it a try. Its one of the better rpgs.
And ya the 2nd one if on ps2 isn't as good but its not a bad rpg either.

Has anyone attempted playing Legend of Legaia on the psp using sonys ps1 emulator. It has some graphic glitches, which i could LIVE with, but then battles don't work. When you first try to go talk to the trainer to practice with him, goes black to go to the battle screen but stays black.

Has anyone found a copy of legaia that works with the psp?..

One person say me that the error was that all the archives.rar hadn´t the same size, but they have the same size except the last.

Before you PSP homebrew homies get excited, no this game wont work even though alot of compatibility lists say it will and it tricks you into thinking it will(probably something to do with each other). After you use an item the game will freeze, i've tested this with the latest custom firmware (3.40 oe-a, dont know about the mmk or whatever the other "brand" of custom firmware will do) and tricky plugins that allow you to play with earlier POPstation versions, which won't run the game at all. Several people have had this problem as well so no its not me :boink4: Sollution incoming as soon as i can find one :gamefreak:

Legend of Legaia, commonly abbreviated as LOL, is a Sony PlayStation role-playing game created by Contrail. The game features RPG gameplay, including Japanese character voices and a unique storyline. The game was followed by a 2001 sequel on the PlayStation 2, titled Legaia 2: Duel Saga.
Legend of Legaia's most notable feature is its 'Tactical Arts' battle system. The system is conditional turn-based in nature but beyond that lacks resemblance to almost any other game. Instead of simply choosing a spell or attack, the player chooses a combination of moves. (i.e. a left-handed punch, high kick, etc.) Special sequences initiate stronger attacks. In addition, there are no "resting spots": the place a character moves to for their action is where they stay. Also important to the battle system are Seru monsters. Defeating a Seru monster in battle while wearing a Ra-Seru provides a chance that the Ra-Seru will absorb the Seru monster. If this happens, the character wearing that Ra-Seru can summon that Seru to perform a magic attack. As with most magic systems in RPG's, this consumes magic power. In addition, there is a "Spirit" command, in which a character defends for one round and can perform longer attacks during the next turn.

if you like turnbased rpg's, epic storylines, great characters, unique systems, variety in enemies, and nice graphics then youll love this game.

its a traditional turnbased rpg(the good kind) with a twist in the battle system. youll understand when you play. make sure you go see the monk standing on the beach :) now that i think about it this is my second fave rpg. though my fave rpg is a hell of an opponent(final fantasy 7) this rpg is incredible. download it NOW. ive got the origional disc so no dl for me lol.

uhmm i have a question, im playing this game on ePSXe 1.7.0 and it seems like im lagging very much when summoning and using arts. i dunno whats the problem. i have pete's plug-ins. followed steps on how to configure this. but still have a problem. this is my first game for my ePSXe so sorry for the n00b questions.

Good : Graphic especially monster, moving/summon/combo action in battle
Bad : every battle take to long cause many moving/summon/combo

anyway this game is cool.

for Epsxe 1.7.0 some setup may lead to lag... no perfect setup for all PC spec. you must trial & error. (when i meet perfect setup for my PC, i finished the game already, so i play second round)

Summary.

I checked the files before uploading them and they were ok . You may be doing sth wrong so read this guide (http://snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=4088) on how to extract 001 files . I will download them and post what happens here .

is anyone else having a problem with the game freezing when you use the seru flame in the room with the mirror inorder to go into the past? I've even tried to download different mirrors for the game and they all are doing the same thing...in the same spot..and i get the error "executed illegal opcode and a bunch of numbers ><..this is real close to the end of the game and id like to finish it :/ if anyone knows how to fix this it would be appreciated.
