Chrono Cross NTSC-U for Playstation is one of the best rated RPGs for the PSX console. It was rated 10,00 at gamespot, which is VERY rare :)

You need all the links listed. Mirror links represent duplicate links, and give you more than one way to download if a particular part isn't working.

Some advice...pick a different font color...and just a reminder, download difficulties go into the Download Difficulties Section...I believe there is a section in there about Chrono Chross already....lastly, what is it doing to make you think it's "non-downloadable"? Is the page not loading? Is the download not initializing?

if this is a ISO file then winrar 'think' that it is an archieve.
all you need is unpack downloaded files and load them to emulator :) (img cue or else)

Not really. There are minor references to Chrono Trigger but otherwise, not really.

This game is the best RPG there is! Sad there were no sequels to this storyline.

Alright I'm a lil confused here. I downloaded the 1st disc off of megaupload or whatever, and the two parts unpacked properly togethor, wherein you start one and it asks where the other is after a certain time. But the second disc it appears that both part one and part two are the same file. In any case they don't ask where their counterpart file is, and the contents appear to be the same. If the Disc 1 was downloaded and unpacked correctly, could I concievably run CC without Disc 2 until I needed it, so I could at least test my settings until I get it to run>?

Ok, so I had downloaded this game when it was on the featured PSX game section in the snesorama homepage. Its a great game and all but can someone help me with the configuration, the video part is the problem I think. I did try The config posted by Gladiator over at the compatibility list, but the FPS limit won't be needed with those settings lol..it never hits 63 =(. Well, I do think my PC is strong enough to support it though, I got a 3GHz Pentium IV processor, Intel 915 board, 512 MB ram and 128 MB graphics card supporting opengl but not by nvidia. Please help.

Well, I don't know, I tried with the same settings again, on the 15th try it worked, I played for an hour, it worked flawlessly, I went out after talking with everyone in the Akri village and saved. Then, when I loaded some 2 hours later, it would either freeze my computer when i enter someone's house, or when I am finished with a battle or simply if I don't press start and wait for the demo to show up. I have seen the BSoD more than 10 times today due to it :danger: . I just don't know what is wrong. I use scph1001.bin as bios, is that the problem?, does it works only with scph7502.bin? Also, whenever I try to configure epsxe,video, sound or cd, at first, a message stating the application failed to start because wnaspi32.dll wasn't found pops up and then it lets me configure it lol, the message doesn't appear again if i hit cancel and press config again but does if i try reconfiguring after reloading the emulator. wnaspi32.dll as far as I know is Nero's driver and I have it installed lol. Please suggest something anybody, I need any help I can get lol. What is that special game fix option on for in the config by gladiator? Which of the special game fix should i keep on for Chrono Cross in epsxe 1.6.0 with pete's opengl 1.76?

You have problems with unzipping Chrono Cross from .001 format? Well, just get 7-zip, version 4.23 from here: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z423.exe.

Then, go to tools, options, system tab within the options and check the 001 option to associate 7-zip with 001 files(the newer versions don't have 001 option there =().

Then, just put all parts(2 in this case) together, you should see a 7z icon over the 001 file, then double click it and enter the password, which is http://snesorama.us in this case, after that, the files in the archive, 3 files are there in this archive, all 3 with extensions .ccd, .sub and .img should show up, just select any and hit extract. For some reason, I had to manually select all 3, one at a time and hit extract to get all 3 out lol, and 7zip took as much time and reported extraction of 700+ MB file for all 3 nonetheless, despite the fact that the .ccd file is in bytes. Maybe you just extracted the .ccd file by extracting it just once lol, check the extension, you should have a .img file extracted to run the iso. If that doesn't work, check the extension of the parts, one should be .001, the next should be .002 for both disks and the .002 should be smaller in filesize than .001. Proper extraction should do it, just go run the iso from epsxe after proper configuration lol, which is where the real headache begins :boink4: . Oh yeah, don't forget to download the md5 checksum and put it in the same folder as the iso too. If that doesn't work, you might have to re-download.

And oh yeah, I just saw the big red notice, use epsxe 1.5.2 lol, so I guess I should try that instead.

Oh well, it is working fine again, with the same settings, I don't know why epsxe is doing this to me lol, but the idea of having a frozen computer anytime when playing freaks me out and I can't play well lol. As for you Muckish, I am still not sure you extracted properly because even without the -noauto command line parameter, it should show at least the opening sequence. Try using epsxe1.6.0, pete's opengl 1.76 plugin, eternal spu plugin 1.41, with the settings recommended by gladiator over at the compatibility list (http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php?p=16495&postcount=29). And don't forget to put -noauto when executing epsxe.

Hmm, I mean it, I am pretty certain you have the roots of all your problem in bad extraction. Try verifying the files with the md5 checksum, if they are ok, properly extract them and then run. It really should work, it must, no reason for it to not work in a comp with those specs. Oh well, unless epsxe has choices over which comp to run and which not to. I think that opcode is related to when the iso doesn't exist/is corrupt or you are hitting play cd-rom when there is no cd. Yeah, also try mounting the image using Daemon Tools and then run by selecting run cd-rom, after selecting whatever drive the image has been mounted to by DT in the cd-rom plugin configuration. If that doesn't work then well, make sure you re-download epsxe 1.6.0 and all the plugins again and try re-installing epsxe and follow all the information at the compatibility list explicitly. I still think the problem is only a matter of not getting the real iso out of the archive though, can you post a screen shot of your epsxe video/audio/bios/cdrom configuration and the properties of the iso file, just so that guys here can take a look at it. If you don't know how to take a screen shot, hit Alt+Printscreen when you are at the desired screen and hit paste in a image utility program, MSpaint works too.

Hmm, still flickering, even with matching up to your compatibility guide for CC. I am starting to wonder if the flickering I'm seeing wasn't always there.

Do you notice a flickering in all the character polygons? Like constant minor reshaping and flickering which isn't smooth?

you could try ePSXe 1.60. with -noauto parameter. see if it makes any difference.

Heh I love this game. My origional got trashed over the years, so I made back-up disks long ago but found out shortly after the psx won't take to disk 2 when you finish disk 1. I am glad I found this site tho, it helped me to get hooked to ePSXe, so now I can play both disks outside my psx :thumbsup:

Try using ePSXecutor. Get the epsxe version 1.6.0, Pete's Opengl v 1.76/D3d v 1.76, depending upon if or not your gfx card supports opengl. Then, use the following settings: (click on the image to get the bigger picture)

If you are having problems with the iso, get Daemon Tools 3.47 and mount the image, then use Sapu's plugin 1.0. Just leave almost everything to default other than choosing the mounted drive in the configuration.

Don't forget to use the -noauto command line, run ePSXe from the cmd prompt and type it like this:
C:\Programs\epsxe>ePSXe.exe -noauto
USe the directory you have put ePSXe into while giving the location lol.

Oh yeah, give CC its own memory cards.

If you are going to use ePSXecutor, import my settings, the ones I have uploaded, and don't forget to change the CD rom plugin configuration lol.

That still doesn't get rid of the flickering. Just the characters do it, not necessarily any animated objects, just people. The flickering is actually quite annoying and I can't play with it. Anyone else notice this with CC? Constant flicky morping of the character bodyparts?

It doesn't happen with me lol, not that much. Although there do seem to be a flickering of polygons making up the character's models at times, specially when in areas with a lot of lighting, like the chief's house(Radius, wasn't he?) and the subsequent battle if you accept to train under him lol. I don't find it that disturbing though lol, it is much less annoying than when the game suddenly crashes during a screen change with sound worse than horn bullying and nothing but black screen. I don't think you can completely get rid of it unless you play in an actual PSX though. Maybe using the highest settings for Pete's opengl plug in will help, try tuning everything in the upper lists to the highest possible lvl lol, and don't check any of the check boxes. Unless you are using Epsxe 1.6.0, use the special game fix Odd/Even bit hack.

argh im running into problems now the games runs a super speed >> i did the noauto parameter, the black option and even changed my settings to the recommendations but nothing the game runs at superspeed hell i change the frame rate to 30 frames per secon and still went fast i tried the option frame skiping but it would still go fast and some distortion. its 4 am and ive been fiddling with the thing any tips on what i can do it was working fine before i did a reformat on my pc today and the epsxe was in my back up harddrive and re plugged it in i don think that would be the problem. Is simple. If you want to burn a image (.img , .bin, .nrg ..etc) of a original game, you need software that removes protections. CLONE CD is the most used and powerfull. If the image of cd is a copy and don't have protections you need just use a simple software CD recorder, like nero.

Emulator or PSX? On emulator, check the ePSXe compatibility list to see which configuration you have to use. On PSX... no, you can't have that problem unless the ISO is damaged (thing I don't think so).

I wanted to thank you for posting the first real rpg I played as a kid (pokemon). It is also the first rpg I never finished. I later played chrono trigger and all the other snes games of notable merit but I hope to finally figure out the connection between the two series.

chrono cross took many elements from Radical Dreamers, which is a side-story to chrono trigger. Radical Dreamers was later referred as another time/dimension.

I have ran into a problem. The game runs fine, but after selecting the starting options (new game, then vibration settings) it goes into a eternal black screen... Actually, now that I check it...it's like it freezes. The screen is filled with whatever was above it... For example:

EDIT: Nevermind. I searched and found that you need 1.5.2. (Thanks, Cleid.), it was all well and good until I went into the first room which you go to taking the right passage way.......ePSXe 1.5.2. then crashed...

chrono cross is a pain in da arse to emulate.
use epsxe 1.60 with -noauto command line, please search for it...

Just tried it. Same thing. Go into the first room to the right and it freezes up and crashes.

this is an absolutely wonderful game. its in my top 3 of all time. the soundtrack moves me in ways i can't describe, especially the 'another world' track which plays on one version of the over-world map :sadsmiley:. i'm one of those rare folks who actually favors this game to crono trigger [which is in my top ten :biggrin:]. one of the very best on playstation! but you all know that already! so i'll shut up now and y'all can dl and play it :lol:

hey all,

wow, i haven't posted in forever. not been active enough for anyone to know who i am, but anyway, Chrono Cross!! i just lent the game and console to a friend, but i've been listening to the ost lately and i've just realized that i never remembered the music being SO GOOD. i mean, it's really an excellent track. i've read that the composer mitsuda actually developed an ulcer and "shit blood" working on the music. 0_0 listening to it now, i mean... let's just say, yeah, i can believe it.

anyway, i can't wait to play this game again. thanks again! you guys are seriously the best.

I know this might need to go to download difficulties section but...

I download the game via links provided by matrix. I got two files:

I try to join them by hjsplit or directly unzipping one by one but it always says 'unrecognized or damaged' in winrar.

What am I doing wrong?

The intro video and main menu runs fine and everything. But after I select 'new game' and select 'vibration on/off' it just goes to a black screen.

If this solves the issue, try decreasing effects, as uploads will probably have to stay on 2...

You can download the 2nd disc from wherever you want, as long as it's the
same game and region.

Just burn it, extras mbs are for burning proccesses. Just think that the game was originally burned in a 700 MB (max) CD, so how can it be that an image of the same game sizes more than that? Burn it, you won't have troubles.

Nah:PSX=Old=650 MB Discs.A image thats so big that you need to overburn would die on the end of the disc.Thats must be something else.

I downloaded this ISO, and it all works fine up until i click "New Game", then the screen goes blank. I don't know why this is happening. I do have part 1 and 2 of cd 1, but I don't have cd 2 yet. Might that be the reason?

I remember playing this game when I was around 9 or 10, and man it was good... for the 5 days I had it at least (Stupid Hollywood Video Rental policies...)

I never could find it to buy it, but now I can play it to completion at my leisure.

P.S. For best results, use ePSXe Version 1.5.2 with Pete's OpenGL GPU Plug-in, Eternal SPU plug-in, and whatever your preferences are on the plug-ins.

I tried it on ePSXe 1.6.0, and it WILL NOT WORK on 1.6.0.

I found a problem and can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it.

The problem lies at the end of the Prologue Dungeon prior to awakening from the dream in your village. At the end of that dungeon where you randomly have one of the 38+ characters accompanying yourself and Kid, when you hear the heartbeats before a cutscene, right before the CG sequence it Crashes to desktop no matter what settings I use.

I've tried using Pete's OpenGL 1.76, Pete's D3D 1.76, and I have a 1.3Ghz intel celeron Processor, a Geforce 4 Ti/4200 64MB videocard, and 512MB RAM.

My Rating: 4/5 :)
Playtime4Rating: Few Hours.
Why: Its a great game, had lots of fun talking to people while following an interesting storyline with movies that fit in after different parts that were done VERY well. This animation = HELL YEAH. The fighting system is pretty good though the game follows a specific storyline that you can pick different people to come with you and movement and location is all up to you, until theres no where else to go. I did follow a guide eventually after getting stuck momentarily in a city. Play this game if you like final fantasy games, Id follow the guide just because some things are a little to specific, try to do it without though =D Especially if you have all the time in the world.
