Shaolin PAL-E for Playstation.

-No info on this one. When I try searching for it on google all I get is Wu Tang shaolin and Shaolin Soccer and etc. So I left it!

Ciao.co.uk review by Ivan Belonosov:
Know, how it is a lot of in this sound to the Chinese heart? Shao Lin, it both a fairy tale and a legend, both dream and a holiday, which always with you. I shall specify, a holiday not for everything, but only for fans(amateurs) of east single combats.

So, what fans(amateurs) will find here? For the beginning, they will be pleased to the Chinese national dancings, in popular speech called "кун-фу" or "at - shu" as it is pleasant more. We see typical chinesse, doing difficult moves. "not Tekken". But looks effectively. There is also one more curious moment. Among characters there are copies of stars of cinema Itself Hunga and Jekky the Tub...

Unfortunately, fights not so are effective. Despite of presence of six declared schools, people fight it is practically identical. At cinema, for example, Whether easily it is possible to distinguish Djit kundo Bruce from style of " a drunk fist ", and here is not present. Besides computer people brake and look silly, the most part of time standing idle without movement. In similar game " Wu Tang ", fights much dinamic.

But, authors speak, that fights here not main, main - a mode of role game. Really, we choose the boy or the girl and we go, we talk to people, we wait while they will be pumped up and will raise the main villain. Only, each second conversation comes to an end fight, so again one and too. And at what here bears - pandas? As far as I know, they are rather quiet and friendly animals...

Playability & Enjoyment A good game - playable and enjoyable
Addictiveness Not exactly addictive but certainly playable
Originality Not bad - some good ideas
Graphics OK
Sound Good - relevant music & effects
Difficulty & Complexity Average - suitable for most http://snesorama.us/images/ss/PSX/Shaolin_pal-front.jpghttp://snesorama.us/images/ss/PSX/Shaolin_pal-back.jpg

I wanted to check this with cdmage but cdmage wouldn't open this iso for some reason so I can only assume its an unknown format for it. That is most likely why I didn't post this one ages ago when I prepared it. I did however try it in ePSXe in which it worked fine...

Shao Lin
THQ's ambitious four-player fighter sidesteps US, ships to Europe only.

October 11, 1999 - So you can't get a hold of the black market Thrill Kill, and you want to engage in serious four-player fighting mayhem? THQ, makers of niche games in the wrestling, fishing, and bowling arenas, is bringing out a game you may love. Shao Lin, a martial arts-based four-player fighter, is that entrée into the thin multiplayer market. Recent information from the company, however, confirmed some suspicions: Shao Lin will not come to the US, shipping only to Europe.

What may be even better is the game's premise, which combines full 3D four-player fighting and RPG playing elements into one. The only other company that's tried this kind of genre-meshing is Square, which succeeded brilliantly with the Tobal series. Yes, THQ has serious ambitions, but the possibility of a fast-framed four-player game is one that has fantastic – and broad – appeal, and can no longer be ignored.

Shao Lin's angle is different. It's highly stylistic in its artistic and fighting approach. Shao Lin will represent as many as six different classic martial arts fighting styles, calling forth the early film days of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, when numerous fighters appeared onscreen simultaneously.

In the same light, Polygon Magic and THQ hired Hirotoshi Sano to bring a distinct artistic direction to Shao Lin. Renowned for his work on prominent works such as Gundam 0083, Bounty Dog, The Vision of Escaflowne, and Nazca, Sano's insight and attention to detail will appear in the every aspect of the game. From the clothing and hair styles of the characters, to the ancient Chinese temples, shrines, mountains, cities, and caves, players will definitely notice Sano's visionary touch.

Attempting a clean, fast-moving, responsive four-player fighting game isn't an easy task, and THQ isn't known for its fighting games, either (although it is known for its wrestling titles). And not everyone has a Multitap. Still, THQ is taking its time to make sure this fighter is done right. The game originally was loosely scheduled for a late 1998 release, but it's been pushed back to March 1999, which gives the developers more time to fine tune the engine, and bump up the frame rate.

On top of the four-player engine is the "RPG mode," the other half of this ambitious genre-bender. This adventure/RPG feature enables your character to advance through a series of battles and make-or-break decisions that affect his or her outcome. Even though THQ has yet to reveal a playable alpha to us just yet, this mode will pit you against unfair odds and dozens of skilled opponents who are bent on your demises.

Through these journeys and waged wars your character actually matures, according to your decisions, and the battles you've won or lost. Then he or she will bring those skills and experiences into the four-player arena where he can display those newly honed techniques. Last, several of the players you encountered and fought against in the RPG mode will appear as selectable in the multiplayer mode for variety and stylistic differentiation.

Four-player combat is certainly one of the biggest avenues in which the traditionally two-player fighter genre can grow. And Shao Lin may be one of THQ's biggest games ever if the company can get it right.

I have this game you have to choose Between two characters: A boy or a girl.
The game starts in a little town it plays like an RPG game (you can talk with the people) but when you arrived at a place the character encounters a group of people the story advances & then it comes a tekken style perspective when you have to fight vs all those characters (in a fighting force mode).

:)

Anyway, don't you think that this cover is a lot more cool?
The NTSC front cover:

PD: I had added the only review I had found.

I don't really know too the real name. When I search for the covers the NTSC appears as Shao Lin & the PAL as Shaolin, so I don't know.

Man this game works great, thanks for the upload, but i had a question. Has anyone else played this on the PSX and have the colors only show up in grey or is it just me. Still fun to play though.
