Try .cdi or .nrg. It should be one of those.

I tried both formats, when I try to load with nullDC, I get the error message which says that..."Selected image failed to load"....which means it's the wrong extension.

*BUMP*....PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!! I SPENT ALL NIGHT DOWNLOADING THIS :sadsmiley:

The image is not self booting. Did you download the first link - boot disc?

You need to load the boot disc first. Then load the sonic image. Let me know
which ext works so I can make a note.

This is supposed to be in the troubleshooting section....you've been a member
long enough to know. I will move this later.

Good luck!!

I only use a real DC. Not too familiar with nullDC, but after some searching -
here is what I found.
Normally first you mount Utopia Boot Disk...then when it tells you to please insert back up CD, you just unmount Utopia and mount up the game that's not selfbooting. Then it should work.

BTW..was that you posting on emuforums? haha
Google is your friend.

MOon be nice:biggrin:

Sorry for being such a noob but do you mean mount with daemon tools? I've done that...This is so annoying....i"ve been on this for over 3 hrs now....i wish someone can upload a selfboot on rapidshare.com...I'm seriously contemplating deleting this...turning out to be a bloody waste of time...pardon my French.

Sorry, we tried that already. Go through his posts and you'll see what I mean :dontcare:.

The theorem goes like this: my kindness = 1/someone's ignorance...
M.

Listen and listen very carefully cos I'm gonna say this only once....nobody asked you to come to this thread and start playing the arrogance game....if you can't be of any help then pls piss off.....i never sent you a PM asking for help, so I don't know what the hell your problem is.....i say this in the nicest way possible...No offense meant....Get out of my thread!!!

lulz, it's not an arrogance game, It follow the rules game. You've been
ignoring those for a while now, despite other pplz reminding you to follow
them constantly.

Sorry, if my previous post sounded arrogant - definitely not it's point, so I'm gonna edit it.

No worries, this is my last post in this thread, just wanted to make things clearer :),

It's not arrogance or any of that shit.People have been ignoring the rules way to much to even consider one would make a simple mistake. It's annoying to see people break the rules and instead of shutting the hell up act like they didn't do anything wrong,I don't mean you since you apologised...I mean in general.

M0on has just tried to help,so nobody would send emails to the admin pretending they haven't done shit and got banned (I don't really warn people)...like they do sometimes.

Hope you understand and solve your Dreamcast problem.

After much searching....what happened while I was away? Yikes!!...some
versions of nullDC only support selfboot images, not sure which one you have.

Are you booting images off CD or mounting them via Deamon?

Hey, maybe try Exoboot (http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php?p=208073&postcount=1) to make the image selfboot for emus.

Not sure what else to try...let me know if that works.

I understand and I apologise to M0on for overreacting....I'm just frustrated....i always wanted to play this game...I spent the whole night downloading it cos my Internet speed is crappy....I've been on it for over 4 hours now and frankly I'm tired...Thanks for your words...I'll never break the rules again.

I use the latest version of nullDC...the problem is that I don't know the extension of e-sonic2, all the extensions I've tried don't work...

I'm mounting via daemon

I can't use exoboot wiithout getting the proper extension for e-sonic2....

Btw this seems to be the source of the rapidshare Sonic Adventures 2 version on snesorama that I downloaded....http://www.trfighters.net/konu.php?t=8930&sid=17c5a638245fcda2fa4d2cebe9e9272d

The explanation on how to use seems to be in Turkish...If someone can translate....

Thanks for your help dreamer....you're cool:)

I apologise to M0on for overreacting....
Seems like I overreacted as well... sorry for that, so apology accepted and
I hope you will accept mine :).

The file format is probably *.bin (like written in the trfighters place), so try
that one. Don't forget that you need your dc_flash to be converted to
NTSC-U before playing using NullDC. Try the utopia -> sonic 2 mounting/unmounting
sequence with these settings.

If nothing works for you, even after Cleidos answers, as a last resort, you
can download the GDI version I uploaded around a month ago... it's very
heavy though (almost 1GB).

I hope this helps ,

military squad, Sonic must escape his captors and discover who is

Sonic's new moves as he grinds rails, swings from poles, and

- 6 Playable Characters: Play as hero favorites Sonic, Knuckles or
Tails; or try one of the new villainous characters: Shadow, Rouge,
or Dr. Robotnik.

2-player action.

- More than 30 Stages: Action-packed and more than you can handle.

- New Moves: Grind down rails, grab ledges, or swing from poles.

- Improved Chao: Smarter and cuter than ever, Chaos can be collected
and used to open unique features and mini-games.

That would lead me to beleive it is supposed to be a CDI file. Try using Exo
with .cdi ext.

You could try this copy Sonic 2 (J) (http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php?p=218499&postcount=1). It is a GDI dump aka exact copy of the original, read the post as to how to use.

Sonic 2 was a large game that doesn't fit on a normal CD. The rips out there
are so so to say the least - graphical errors and such. I bought a commercial
copy years ago because of this. Sorry for all the trouble, I know how
frustrating it can get. Other problem images are Vanishing Point, Shenmue 2,
and Maken X. Plus there are issues with nullDC beta 1.6. In time they will
get better. And it doesn't help when posters upload crap without info.

I hope that your experience today does not deter you from visiting SOR.

I've checked the first part of this image:
First extract with Winrar, you'll get the 6 *.00x parts (x is 1 to 6).
Then use Winrar (7-zip maybe) on the first part of the 00x files, and you'll
get a *.cdi image.

*rar archive
*001 archive
*bin
non-selfboot

says so in that page.

Dukelord
12-04-2007, 12:01 AM
This is Cleidophoros's translation

archive is double-packed.
extract rar archive, you will get 001 archive.
extract that too, you will get .bin file.
game is not selfboot. use Dreamcast Boot Disc v1.2.cdi.

hope this helps.

The file format is probably *.bin (like written in the trfighters place), so try that one.

The funny thing is that after I extract the 001 archive, I get only one file called e-sonic2, if that is a .bin file, where is the .cue file?

Seems like I overreacted as well... sorry for that, so apology accepted and I hope you will accept mine .

Apology accepted mate...thanks:thumbsup:

Don't forget that you need your dc_flash to be converted to
NTSC-U before playing using NullDC.

I have that mate ...thanks

Try the utopia -> sonic 2 mounting/unmounting
sequence with these settings.

I wish someone would give me a detailed explanation of this using nullDC....men I'm such a noob :boink4:

If nothing works for you, even after Cleidos answers, as a last resort, you can download the GDI version I uploaded around a month ago... it's very heavy though (almost 1GB)

I'm seriously considering this...I hope it's on rapidshare.com...if so, pls give me link.

That would lead me to beleive it is supposed to be a CDI file. Try using Exo with .cdi ext.

Yeah I read the .nfo file that came with thr extract and I tried the .cdi extension....I'll try it again with exo and let you know how it goes.

You could try this copy Sonic 2 (J). It is a GDI dump aka exact copy of the original, read the post as to how to use.

It's a Jap copy....Is English spoken and is it self-boot?

First extract with Winrar, you'll get the 6 *.00x parts (x is 1 to 6).

I don't think it's .cdi cos when I try nullDc, I get this error message......"Selected image failed to load"....

That's the GDI dump I uploaded. If you go to the thread, you'll see that it's
multilingual (not written, but English is one of the languages included). In
addition, GDI dumps are selfboot by default (because they're perfect dumps
and don't require tricks to make 'em boot).

Lastly... it's on rapidshare .

If you use MOon's image, make sure you read all of his post.
There are some settings you have to change.

Good luck!! What a day.:eyemouth:

After all that - I'm glad I have a few Dreamcasts.
+173 commercial DC [NTSC-U] games....no probs.
I collected the backups just in case.
