Sorry, but I already tried that with Alcohol 120% and it doesnt fit, that's why I was saying that. I made a successful burn with with the other Shenmue II upload at the "Adventure" sub-forum, but not with this one.

im not sure but i think that copys(PAL, NTSC/U, NTSC/J) will only run on pal-dc, (the dreamcast with the blue logo) otherwise u need the bootdisk...

Many thanks. And the download format is so convient, too. I wish more people would use filefront to upload games. And its managable to burn this. You just have to set your settings to 4x burning speed and turn on Overburn so te data will fit. I thought I'd never play this game. How do I rep this uploader...?

No you can't. Although, I believe its possible to change the subtitles. The default is english.

I agree, my preference lies with having my games in the native language (although since Shenmue takes place in China, everyone speaking Japanese isn't quite accurate, but...)

Now if only they would port English subtitled Sakura Taisen games, I would be very happy.

Can someone tell me if there is full speech in this game? I downloaded a copy of this game years ago that only had audio speech in the cut-scenes. Any time outside of that though, such as just talking to someone on the streets, it was silent with only subtitles. I think I may have noticed someone asking(or mentioning?) this earlier in the thread, but seeing as how they were yet another moron who can't even seem to speak English in a comprehensible fashion whatsoever, I had no choice but to ask here myself. :p
And yes, I do mean Japanese voices, not English.

sounds like the pretty everywhere available echelon rip. this version however seems to have some more background voices, but most of the npc-speech is still missing...thats kinda good for me, otherwise my 99min rip would be kinda pointless :biggrin2:

Can someone help me out here, I try to burn this and Alcohol tells me "Illegal field in parameter list" and Discjuggler just spits out an error, I just want to play my 2nd favorite game of all time (my favorite is FF VII, and my 3rd favorite is the original shenmue). I imported this game when it came out, and my friend still has it (he held onto it), but he's in india at the moment and we lost disc 3

because it was closed some time ago. illegal field in command list most likely means that your burner doesn't support short tracks. but without any info about the image you used and it's structure i can't say anything else but that you could turn it selfboot yourself. that would make it work

they are. i checked them out. they have 50% of the free01.afs file which contains npc-speech and additional character info as well as sound files for ryo when he looks at and reads signs. the echelon rip had that file totally stripped.

OK, you have peaked my curiosity. Is this different than my Echelon copy?
On Echelon, it starts as multi language on 1st disk, but you must change to
English before disc2 or it locks up. The multi has been ripped from the 3
remaining discs. Is Thal's copy an Echelon image? I didn't mind the missing
voices cause I don't speak Jap and there were subs. I have the original
RARset. If this is the same, I could mirror the missing
discs.

yeah it is different. echelon went the easy way and kicked out a huge file. it contained npc-speech for the most part. the perfect series tried to do it better and they did, even though they aren't as optimized as i would have done it. anyway, they contain quest-speech. if you lock onto a sign then ryu reads it aloud and sometimes he gives hints when he sees something. all this is missing in the echelon rip, but is present at the perfect series. also echelon ripped some text-files that contained extra information about some characters and stuff. those are also present on the perfect version. basically you can say that the perfect series only misses the normal npc-speech, that isn't involved with the story itself. i haven't played it very much though. i got that from their readme and from looking at the free01.afs

Ohh sorry I didnt specify, they're Thals. I downloaded his first 2 Disks but couldnt get hold of the last two, so in the end i just browsed Thals (well some guy called Technoromancer) DC Upload folder on Filefront and found them there. Anyway enjoy, and this game does work on nullDC just fine, when I manage to finish the first game I'll give it a go.

Thal's version will not work on all 700mb cdrs, I'm seeing some of you saying its working for you on your 700mb cdr, I am glad it is but what brand of cdrs are you using? Because TDK cd-r 700mb's will not work with Thal's version alcohol 120 says the files too big for the cdrs I have. Please help, because some of you said that you have burned it on 700mb cdrs.



So note to everyone if you have tdk brand cdrs it will not work with thal's version.


I'm going to see if Xiaopang's version fits on tdk cdrs for now... But someone plz tell me what brand cdr they used because you must have good 700mb cdrs because tdk doesn't spare anything and really stricts the 700mb limit on there cdrs.

well, i just played through shenmue and am wondering why my completed shenmue save will not be recognized by this version of shenmue 2. Any help?
The Shenmue i played through was the Kalisto version available in the Adventure subforum.

From what I understand about the Data on my VMU, this shenmue 2 is PAL. The conflicting regions are posing a problem. Is there an NTSC Shenmue 2?

the voices for this game are japanese, the subs are in english, the only way to get it in english is to but the xbox version.

Anyone knows why in Shenmue II posted by fatman people on the streets don't have voice (on nulldc emulator)?? Only ones who have voice are two guys from the ship crew standing on my left just when I arrive to Hong Kong in the beginning of the game, and people in cutscenes (e. g. cutscene with luck melody in the beginning). Other people are only moving their mouths but i don't hear voice. Help...

Man, this version of alcohol that you are using is full of bugs, I've tried to use it, and it don't charge even it's own image (.mdf .mds) on the virtual drive, and it don't recognize .cdi files second session anymore, probable the version of alcohol it's your trouble, when I see all the bugs on this version I've deleted it and instaled alcohol 1.4.0.103 again, and it's fine now, but if are using Windows Vista you are realy in trouble, couse it don't works right on Vista.

Shenmue and Shenmue II perfect series just upped on alt.binaries.dreamcast - if someone wants to put them on web uploads too, that's fine.

Shenmue is complete and PAL version, so you can resume Shenmue II with it. Shenmue II fits as much free quest speech as possible on 80 minutes, there was no selection process here just started from the beginning of the file and up to whatever fits (plus extra "Ryo looking at stuff" files). Disc 4 is complete I think, not that there's much free quest speech there.

Hi there. So I downloaded Fatman's MU links to the Kalisto PS Shenmue II and I'm having problems burning them. I have never had any trouble burning DC games before...even when over burning. I use Alcohol 1.9.7 and Verbatim 700MB CD-Rs. When I try burning with over burn on it says the disc isn't big enough. I read that I should maybe try a different version of Alcohol...like 1.4.0.103. I tried finding that version online but no luck :( I'm not sure if it's my version of alcohol or the fact that I'm using 700mb CD-R. Hopefully someone can shed some light as to what I'm doing wrong. it can be burned to a disc it fits just fine. Emulate the image with Daemon Tools, then do a direct CD to CD copy with any decent CD burning program, see if that works.

Ok so I got it to burn using Alcohol version 1.4.8.1222. Turns out the version I was trying to burn was the one I already have...doh. I got it a few months ago but thought this one had more speech in it. Hopefully someday someone will figure out a way to burn Shenmue II with FULL voice. We can only hope hehe. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me with my problem.
